About Rob

Rob Hughes is the founder of Lift Industry Training Group and he runs training and development programmes for new job seekers. Over the last 20 years he's trained up more than 300 unemployed people, helping them move into new jobs and higher paid careers.

Right now, he's building a growing network of people looking for new work who want to be introduced to business owners and hiring managers and the bigger mission is to help many of them become self-employed and eventually launch their own small businesses supplying a variety of services.

With a deep commitment to helping professionals succeed in the lift and escalator industry, Rob Hughes has dedicated his career to training, mentorship and business development. From supporting new entrants looking for apprenticeships to guiding industry veterans in setting up their own businesses, Rob has played a key role in shaping the careers of countless lift professionals.

Starting his journey with unpaid work experience at just 15, Rob quickly developed a passion for the trade. After completing a five year lift engineering apprenticeship with Bennie Lifts and Express Lifts (later acquired by Otis) he gained his qualifications. His career path then led him into self-employment and sub-contracting, where he built a successful lift business and gained first hand experience in client management, recruitment and project execution.

Rob has since used this expertise to create over 300 new jobs in the lift industry and support dozens of work experience placements. He has designed comprehensive training programmes to help individuals fast track their careers, whether they are:
